Charity Folk Night at St Andrews Golf Club

Thu, May 31st 2018 at 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

Performers:

Mike Dow (also compère)

Ranald Smith: A member of the Inverness Riverside Rotary Club for many years, Ranald has performed in folk clubs semi-professionally since his University days in Aberdeen, where he was President of the Aberdeen University Folk Club. Ranald is an excellent guitarist and singer, his repertoire comprising an eclectic mix of mainly contemporary folk songs. Mike and Ranald shared a flat during their time at Aberdeen University, where they read little of note, and sang together at weekends in the House of Dun (when it was a hotel) during one summer canning peas at Chivers' factory in Montrose.

Dave Godden : From West Lothian originally, but now living in Nairn, Dave is a recently retired physician and clinical researcher, who now squanders his time writing novels, playing guitar and moothie, and winning the internationally famous Glenfarg Folk Club's Folk Feast 'Write a Song' competition.

Forgaitherin : An excellent group of singers and instrumentalists from Cupar and Gauldry, comprising Lesley and Hugh Toner, John Reid and Hamish Grant, also a regular performer at Aberdeen University Folk Club at the same time as Ranald and Mike. All are members of Glenfarg Folk Club and will have you all singin' like linties to their rich repertoire of chorus songs. Lesley and Hamish take the lead singing role, enhanced by guitar, keyboard and accordion.

Hope to see you there!
