   What a great President’s Night we had! We were honoured with the presence of both Presidents from Weymouth and Melcombe Regis , the meal was scrumptious, the bar was cheap, and the Omega Project had lots of us dancing the night away. Plus we raised a goodly sum for the Portland Coastwatch. A big thank you to Jayne for organising the evening and to her helpers who set up the venue – well done!!

   Of course the highlight of the evening was the award of a Paul Harris Fellowship to Janet Kench. It was a pleasure and a privilege for me to present it to her, she was definitely surprised and delighted.

  Paul Harris was the Founder of Rotary, over 100 years ago, and the Fellowship was introduced in his honour. It is awarded to people who can be recognised for their exceptional service to the community and the Club.

   Janet has raised several thousands of pounds over her years of membership of our Club.

   She serves on various committees, organises coach trips for shopping etc, and theatre visits to contribute to our Benevolent Fund.

   She also acts as a fund-raiser for Haylands Pre-School.

   She also organises the annual Burns Night dinners which was previously a

fund-raiser for the Children

of Chernobyl.

   She has been a member since 2008 and served as our President in 2013/4.
