Primary School Cycling
Teaching the Dingwall Primary 5s to cycle safely on the road is the aim of this project.
When the 6 week course starts most of the children struggle to control their bikes at slow speed, are not familiar with the rules of the road and generally do not recognise or follow traffic control signe. After about 12 lessons there is an amazing difference in their capabilities. They are aware of other road users and they appreciate the need to pay attemtion to halt signs, give-way signs and traffic lights. It is very rewarding to see how Rotarians who give up a little of their time each week can make such a huge difference to the childrens skills and their safety on the roads.
