Joint meeting of Stonehouse and Stroud Rotary clubs
Oon 28 November were informed on the Bloodhound car being developed to extend the world land speed record held by the UK.
Chris Fairhead with a career with Rolls Royce was recruited by Richard Noble the project leader to join the team to improve on the existing 740 mph world record held by the team with ex pilot Andy Green as the driver.
Chris recruited in 2014 to support the technical side is now involved in education in schools promoting the engineering aspects and encouraging youngsters interest.
The project is still looking for further major sponsorship following disappointment of funding from a Chinese car entrepreneur and the UK government.
The selected flat desert race track is in South Africa and Bloodhound is nearly ready to improve the land speed record.
Chris was welcomed as a past Rotary District Governor and members from other clubs also attended.
