Every year Llangefni Rotary Club presents a Citizen of the Year award to a volunteer from the community who has made a significant contribution to it.
This year the recipient was Brenda Roberts. She is Chair of the Anglesey Older People’s Council and works hard across the Island groups for the rights and happiness of the aged. She has a particular interest in the problem of loneliness and is much respected by Community Groups on the Island. She is also a volunteer at the Glanhwfa Community Centre at Llangefni and is there on weekdays helping to serve meals provided by Age Concern and having a chat with the people, mostly pensioners, who call in. A regular worshiper at Moriah Chapel she arranges tea and a chat after every Sunday morning service.
Brenda is a worthy recipient of this years award.
At our monthly club social evening held at the lovely Nant Yr Odyn hotel last Monday evening, we had the honour of being able to present Brenda with her Rotary Llangefni Citizen of the Year Award.
Photos show our Llangefni Rotary Club President, Bill announcing that Brenda was to be the recipient, (which was unknown to Brenda until that time), and presenting her with the award.
