Don Jary hands over the Presidency to Wendy Aldred
July is the beginning of the Rotary Year when outgoing President Don Jary handed over the office to Wendy Aldred for the coming year.
Both Presidents were kept busy during the handover period. The previous weekend saw the Annual Golf Day where over £2300 was raised for projects associated with dementia.
Then members were involved with garden projects in Longtown. First by tidying the flower bed outside Longtown Community Centre before removing mattress springs and ash from the circle down by the river. In the process they uncovered a Rotary Wheel which the club had put in place several years ago. The Rotary Club will be undertaking more work on both these areas in the coming months when the conditions are not as dry.
The following day both Presidents and members attended Warwick Bridge School Summer Fete helping youngsters make smoothies with a smoothie bike.
Later the same day was the official handover, and presentation of the plans that the Rotary Club has this coming year and hearing about some new local projects members hope to implement.
New President Wendy Aldred said “ We always like to continue with our very popular projects such as the Metal Detecting Rally, Golf Day and the visit of the Santa Sleigh to both Brampton & Longtown but we also are developing some exciting local projects over the coming months”.
