Lunchtime Meeting - 12.45pm - Speaker David Griggs

Dave Griggs gave us some interesting and amusing tales of his younger self - we can't wait for part 2!

Dave's guest was the President of Saddleworth Rotary Club who was a very entertaining guest with an interesting background.

Clint is a former Police Officer with over 30 years Police Service split equally between operational policing in the Cleveland Police and full time representative work with the Police Federation of England and Wales. His Police Federation career began in the late 1970s and he held full time positions locally, regionally and nationally, which culminated in his appointment as the national General Secretary in 2001.

He retired from the police service and his position as General Secretary of the Police Federation in 2005. He was awarded the Queens Police Medal for distinguished service.

He commenced working with the National Association of Retired Police Officers the following year as Deputy Chief Executive being promoted to Chief Executive in September 2009. He retired from his position as Chief Executive of NARPO in February 2016.

As well as being this year's President of Saddleworth Rotary Club, Clint is a director of Age UK Oldham and a member of the management committee of the Oldham link of Chernobyl Children's Life Line.

We were delighted to welcome Joanna Banks as a new member of our Club today whilst at the same time we were sad to say goodbye to David Foden who is moving for work to Conwy.

We look forward to getting to know Joanna and husband David who are already well known to Club members as they have frequently gone on the Club's autumn weekends away and Jo's volunteer presenting at LifeLine.

Thanks were given to Past President Dave Foden for his service to the Club, particularly in organising the autumn weekends away for the last six years or so.
