We had two visitors today, Gwyneth Munjoma, a potential member who first visited us two weeks ago, and Paul Stevens, Chairman of Samaritans of Chelmsford and Mid-Essex. Whilst Rotary business meetings may not always be of much interest to outsiders it has hopefully given Gwyneth a greater insight into the way the Club works.
Bob Booker, our Treasurer, presented the accounts for the Trust Fund and the Club Funds to the end of September.
Jenny Black, Chair of our Membership Committee, announced that we now have two Business Partners, Battenburg Events and Edmund Carr. She distributed leaflets on our Business Partnership Scheme so that members could discuss it with businesses they were in contact with which might be interested.
Janice Goodman, Chair of the Youth Service Committee, reported on the encouraging developments in the County High School Interact Club, particularly the growth in membership.
She and Keith Otter described briefly the new RYLA scheme and encouraged members to speak to them if they were prepared to become tutors.
We also received reports from other Committee Chairs and reports on two of our members who are seriously unwell. Graham Furnival was thanked for his part in organising the very successful trip on a Thames sailing barge the previous Friday.
After the formal part of the meeting Paul Stevens spoke briefly about the Samaritans and the commitment required of volunteers.
