Clair Dade: Chelmsford Community Transport

Thu, Oct 11th 2018 at 1:00 pm - 2:15 pm

The Club sponsors CCT, a charity which provides door-to-door transport by car or minibus for those who are unable to use public transport because of age, physical or mental disability or rural exclusion.

Since Clair’s last visit a seventh minibus has been purchased and a new driver employed. Despite this they are still at full capacity and are looking to acquire another vehicle. They are also expanding the use of car transport outside the City and are working with Broomfield Hospital to assist with transport to Maldon, Braintree, Basildon and Southend Hospitals. The fare is half of the cost of a taxi with the added advantage that the driver can stay and keep the person company. All drivers are DBS checked.

After Clair’s presentation we presented her with a cheque for £1,000 as part of our five-year commitment.
