Steventon, Definitely Not a Pub Quiz: (Sponsored by Rotary Club of Abingdon)
Friday 23rd  November, Steventon Hall, 7:00 for a prompt 7:30 start


SALES ( of tables have been available since 12th October)


You may purchase a table (a max of 7 people per table) for £125


FORMAT


The quiz evening, our ninth, will follow the usual format; multi-media quiz, bread, cheese, wine (+ Loose Cannon beer this year), and raffle.  
We are now able to take payment for the beer and additional bottles of wine with a credit card.  
Our thanks go to Waitrose and Loose Cannon for their support this year.


  • large screen to show the questions and illustrate the answers

  • second screen for the electronic scoreboard (new design this year, thank you for the feedback)

  • answer book; plus sheets to help the other team members

  • bread, cheese & pickle and 2 bottles of wine on the table,

  • Joker: make your choice of joker round before round 1 starts.
    Any team with 3 or more members that have won the quiz in either 2016 or 2017,
    are denied the use of a joker; this is to try and share the title around
    .

  • 7 rounds, each of 10 questions (except in round 6, when there will be 30 questions each worth point),

  • a raffle

  • a bottle of fizz for each of the 7 winning team members.




THE PROCEEDS


Our surplus last year was £2,250, a sum we would like to achieve again so we can continue to support the many deserving charities who look to us for help.






RAFFLE


We have six £30 John Lewis vouchers kindly donated by surgeries/clinics/estate agent, for the quiz:

  • St Helen’s Dental Clinic

  • Bath Street Dental Clinic

  • Abingdon Chiropractic Clinic

  • Thomas Merrifield


Tickets will be sold by Cat, Ben, Emily  and ?  during the break. The raffle will be drawn between rounds 6 and 7.

 




THE PROGRAMME FOR THE EVENING:


  • 7:00pm - Doors open

  • 7:30pm - President's welcome

  • 7:35pm - Round 1 (Pictures, Where on Earth)     

  •                - R2 (Firsts), R3 (Sport) and R4 (Match the music with a clue)

  •                - Break for Bread, Cheese, Pickle, and Wine

  •                - Sale of raffle tickets during the break

  •                - R5 (Nature) and R6 (Bletchley)

  •                - Draw of raffle prizes

  •                - R7 (Comedy clips)

  •                - Announcement of winners

  • 10:30 pm - Close 




TO BOOK A TABLE


  1. Send me an email (quality.methods@btinternet.com) to request a table,
    … I shall reply within a day to confirm there is (or isn’t) a table and give you instructions on paying; also the time limit on me receiving payment before the table is released for re-sale.



  1. Once the £125 has been received you will be advised which table has been allocated.
    First come – first served basis, allocating tables from the front.

with the confirmation of an available table, you will be asked to transfer £125 by one of the three methods

Installing water tanks in Africa

We worked with the Nasio Trust to install water tanks in Tanzania, to provide safe drinking water. Ground water in the region is heavily fluoridised and causes health problems for the population.

The Club's foreign conscience - here immunising under-fives in India against Polio. There is no cure for Polio but it is preventable with a vaccine. Only two countries now remain endemic. We’ve reduced cases by 99.9% since 1988
