On Thursday 20th June, the Rotary Club of South Queensferry held its annual assembly at the Hawes Inn. After welcoming ADG Ken Robertson, who represented District 1020, to the meeting, President Sandy Mackenzie introduced President Elect Jim McCulloch who will lead the club for Rotary Year 2019-2020. In a well-illustrated presentation, President Elect Jim described the club structure and introduced office bearers and committee convenors who outlined their proposed programmes for the coming year. President Elect Jim then spoke about his ambitions for his presidential term which included consolidating the many successful existing club initiatives as well as revisiting certain aspects of club procedure which might be due for review. The club would also support Past President Graham Leith who was due to take an ADG role with District in the coming Rotary year.

In summing up his impression of the club's proposals, ADG Ken said that the comprehensive and ambitious programme proposed by President Elect Jim typified the Queensferry club's place as one of the most vibrant and successful clubs in the district. He was sure this success would be carried forward and sustained during Jim's time in office. The watchwords of Rotary were impact, engagement and adaptability. These were amply borne out by the Rotary Club of South Queensferry.

In other business,  President Sandy thanked everyone who had assisted with stewarding at the recent Kirkliston Gala which had proved an enjoyable day despite very poor weather. The tents which the club provided to Kirkliston Church had been particularly useful. President Sandy also wished good luck to Echline Primary School quiz team who were due to take part in the Scottish Final at Stirling on Saturday.
