Holsworthy Bowling Club Charity Bowls Competition
Sunday 19th August
Holsworthy Bowling Club hosted its first Charity Bowls Day on Sunday 19th August. The competition was for teams of 3 non-bowlers. The Club put up three teams, from the total of ten competing.
Despite what the Scots would call a dreich day, or, in Devon, summer, all the participants had an enjoyable day. Bowling Club members accompanied each team, giving some guidance and tuition, and ensuring fair play.
There were two joint winners on the day: the team from Holsworthy Social Club and, amazingly, Rotary Team A (David Vaughan, Letitia Yetman, Geoff Cusick); each of the winning teams received a cheque for £150 to their chosen charity, in the case of Rotary, this year's President's Charity, Parkinsons UK.
Grateful thanks to the Bowling Club for their hospitality (including Lemon Drizzle cake and Coffee Walnut cake), and for organising an excellent event.
