Rotary Beach Clean

Nearly 40 people removed litter and debris from two beaches.  The volunteers, from Dover’s two Rotary Clubs, aided by partners and members of the Inner Wheel Club, got to work on Saturday morning, 15th September.

The South Foreland and Dover Rotary Club members carried out a clean sweep of St Margaret’s Bay.  They also cleared the beach on the western side of Samphire Hoe.  In addition litter was picked up from the Hoe’s long promenade.

A spokesman said: ‘The litter pick was organised in conjunction with the Marine Conservation Society’s Big British Beach Clean Up.  A hundred metres on each of the two beaches were surveyed and the litter picked up was itemised and recorded.’  The data recorded will be on the Marine Conservation Society’s website.
