Community Committee

​Over the last few years the Community Committee and all our Club has organised A Rotary Club of Dronfield Santas’s Sleigh. We have been joined by members of local businesses Staves Estate Agents and member of staff from Ferndale Garden Centre

Poverty at home 2020 and the Covid 19 Pandemic

Organising Santa’s Sleigh which brings so much fun to the town during the dark December evenings. It also raises substantial funds for Community Projects in our area as well as supporting International appeals for help following natural disasters.

Organising the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal in the Town the 2019 appeal raised £17,475.12.

The 2020 collection will be different due to Covid 19 restrictions. Sainsbury and Aldi will have boxes of Poppies on the end of their tills with collection tins to make a donation. Some local schools will sell Poppies to their children. We will updatee our Social Media with the full details.

In 2020 Santa’s Sleigh and the Poppy Appeal will again be organised by the Club. We need your help to make it a success contact us through the website or ring our Club Hotline 07445 050988 all details on the website.

In addition we are in discussion with the Town Council about the following Community Iniative:- 

  1. Establish a Rotary Heart Walk around Cliffe Park to encourage people who have suffered heart attack, stroke or other illness in their recovery by walking short distances.  This is ready to 'go' as soon as the Covid 19 restrictions lift.


During 2020 we have acheived the following:

Given a cheque for £1500 towards the purchase of new books for the GorseyBrigg School and Community Library

Agreed matched funding with Stonelow School for a Forest Classroom- carried forward due to Covid 19

Cardiac Risk in the Young CRY- our club has pledged £1500 towards this life saving screening programme in 2021- due to Covid 19 this will be carried over to 2021.

Dronfield Young Voices- Our Club has agreed a payment for up to half the salary for a voice coach for the 65 local young people. This again is on hold due to Covid 19.

Accessible Derbyshire- our Club donated £1000 was given towards the cost of building an accessible hub at Millers Dale Railway Station. This has been delayed due to Covid 19

KickBack Recovery - the second of 5 Annual payments has been made to this charity who give 1-1 peer support to recovering addicts from all forms of Addiction.

As detailed on our Covid 19 page we have worked throughout lockdown to help our Community.

Club History

more The Rotary Club of Dronfield was chartered in April 1975 with 27 members. During the past 43 years over 100 members of the club has been active in the local community.

Our Community

more Dronfield is in North East Derbyshire in central England. It comprises of five communities Dronfield, Dronfield Woodhouse. Coal Aston, Apperknowle and Unstone within the S18 postcode area.
