Trafalgar Night

Each year, partners and friends of Leatherhead Rotary Club come together to commemorate the Anniversary of Admiral Lord Nelson’s victory at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.

On Wednesday 24th October 2018, around 80 members, partners and friends of Leatherhead Rotary Club attended the club’s annual Trafalgar Night Dinner at Effingham Golf Club, to commemorate the 213th Anniversary of Admiral Lord Nelson’s victory at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.

Guest of Honour at the event was Barry Brooks, himself a former Royal Navy Commodore, who, after an excellent three-course dinner, regaled everyone present with a fascinating account of Admiral Lord Nelson’s life and victory at Trafalgar, before proposing a toast to his Immortal Memory. The Loyal Toast to The Queen was proposed by current Royal Navy Lieutenant Commander Neel Singh.

Rotarian Bob Weldon-Gamble, the current President of Leatherhead Rotary Club, who also organised the evening, said he was very grateful to everyone who had supported it and especially Commodore Brooks for a very interesting and informative talk.
