Christmas Message Our Main Event Every Year Spennymoor Rotary Club organises a Christmas Hamper Draw in support of local community organisations. First Prize is a luxury hamper worth over £100 with a chocoholics hamper and whisky among the other prizes. But his is a draw with a difference. Club Secretary Martin Orrick explained why "We realised that there are a lot of very small, but very active community organisations in Spennymoor" he said. "Raising the money for the prizes would be a major problem for them. So we take care of that, and invite local organisations to sell the tickets. All the money they raise once it has gone through the club's accounts, is returned to them. It doesn't cost them anything, it raises their profile, and it gives them valuable support. Clubs raised over £724 towards this event in December 2018.
