Rotary Grants - Guidance

Guidance on Rotary Club of Bath Charitable grants criteria

CRITERIA FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE GRANT

All grant applications must be made via the appropriate procedure and be accompanied by supporting documentation (which must include details of Accounts, confirmation of Charitable status and Bank Account details).

The Rotary Club of Bath will principally only consider applications from Charities registered with the Charities Commission.

Priority will be given to applications from organisations addressing the needs of those who live and/or operate within the Bath area.

Such needs to include:

1.    Social requirements…. assisting the elderly, the homeless, those in poverty and the disadvantaged.

2.   Youth Projects…. to support training, not covered in National Education, assist character and personal development and to improve employment prospects.

3.    Education…..to promote learning and community values.

4.    Health care……where not provided by the NHS

5.    Other applications on an individual case basis……including support for the Arts, Culture, Environment and Social Enterprise.

Priority will be given to applications from smaller charities which do not have access to other sources of funding (such as Government or Council Grants etc).

The above is not an exhaustive list and, if in doubt, potential applicants are encouraged to make contact with Bath Rotary Club via email  at bathrotary123@gmail.com to ascertain if their project might be eligible.

Request for grants for individuals will not be considered.

Whilst there is no limit as to the amount a charity may request for consideration, all applications will be considered bearing in mind the amount of money the Rotary Club has available at any time.  Rotary culture is that preference be given to helping a larger number of small, local charities rather than smaller numbers of large national organisations. On rare occasions, the Rotary club may consider supporting a charity for a maximum of three years.

Repeat applications are very unlikely to be considered until 3 years have elapsed following a previous grant.

Grants can be for capital expenditure or for ongoing revenue costs. However, grants will NOT be awarded for the maintenance of an existing, salaried position.

It must be emphasised that the Rotary Club of Bath awards grants from its own charitable Trust Fund which itself is a charity, with charitable objectives and is governed by the regulations of the Charities Commission.

Please note, following receipt of a grant application, it may take up to 6 weeks for the Rotary Club to complete its due diligence procedures and decide on whether or not an award may be made.
During such time, no further correspondence will be accepted other than if requested to aid the application.
Any decision of the Club will be final.

IF YOU WISH TO MAKE AN APPLICATION, PLEASE SEND FULL DETAILS, INCLUDING LATEST ACCOUNTS, CONFIRMATION OF CHARITABLE STATUS, AND BANK DETAILS TO www.bathrotary123@gmail.com
