Rotarians visit Ypres

A small group visited Ypres just a few days after the 100th anniversary of the ending of the war with the signing of the armistice.

A small group travelled by minibus to Ypres. Leaving Wellington a little before 07:00 on a Wednesday in November we visited the Battle of Britain Memorial near Dover before catching the ferry. After an uneventful channel crossing we continured the drive to Ypres, arriving about 17:00. The following three days were truly memorable - thanks to the expert guidance from IPP Mike Webb. One of the many highlights was standing at the Menin Gate when the last post was sounded, with the help of a Scottish Pipe Band from St. Andrew's University.
