Andrew Pennington

Our guest speaker - Andrew Pennington - will share his experience of living in East Germany during the Cold War. About Andrew Pennington: Andrew retired from the RAF as a group captain in 2005 after 36 years service, over 30 of which were in the intelligence specialisation. He is a graduate of the RAF Staff College.

He has worked in Northern Ireland, the Falkland Islands, the Gulf and Germany, including six years in Berlin and East Germany at the height of the Cold War. He has a particular interest in World War 1, driven by his two grandfathers who served then in the Gloucesters and the Yorkshire Regiment. Berlin in World War 2 and the Cold War remains Andrew’s main interest and he been licensed to guide at the Sachsenhausen Memorial since February 2019.
