President's Night

Cooden Beach Hotel

This year’s President’s Night took place on Saturday 4th May 2019 at the Cooden Beach Hotel where Senlac President hosted around 60 Rotarians and guests. Among the guests were Presidents from local clubs, Bill Juby of Battle with his wife Gwen, Graham Forster of Bexhill with his wife Chris, Jo Holden of Hastings accompanied by Hastings Rotarian Gayle Benet and our Assistant District Governor Paul Frostick with his wife Eileen. After dinner the speeches came. Graham Forster proposed the toast to Senlac praising the activities the club undertake, “It’s a vibrant, active, growing and successful club”. Dave Miles, responding, first recalled the sadness of losing three colleague Senlac Rotarians this year before thanking Graham for his kind remarks about the club. Dave also recalled some of the club’s activities and thanked the members for the support they had given him, “It’s been an eventful, enjoyable and challenging year”. Incoming President Fitz Fitz-Graham proposed the toast to the Ladies and Guests to which Dawn Parker, Dave’s partner, responded. As is custom the President presented all the ladies with a gift, this year choosing a canvas print of some of his original art work.

The speeches were followed by music, the type that you could dance to, by two man group, Likely Lads. I have the feeling that may be invited again!

A good, well organised evening enjoyed by all and big thanks to Dining Steward   Geoff Gander for all of his hard work.
