Midsummer Buffet Supper, Judges Lodgings in Presteigne

Fri, Jun 21st 2019 at 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm

This was a very enjoyable evening with good food, good company, an atmospheric venue and delightful entertainment....

This was an excellent event arranged by Bruce Morgan with food largely catered for my his amazing wife Sandie. We were privileged to be joined by a number of guests including Sue Lewis, Ann and Simon, Kathy, Heather, Jack and Sue's niece Sasha with her friend Marcus. The evening started in the drawing room for predinner drinks - we had hoped to be outside on this Midsummer's eve party but building works prevented this, sadly, though it would have been a little cool....

We then moved into the dining room which was laid beautifully with flowers very kindly donated by Sue and candelbras supplied by Bruce and the venue. Very atmospheric! The starter was a tasty soup ( everyone was interested in the ingredients which included lemongrass ) followed by a excellent buffet and then strawberries & icecream as well as coffee. However as delicious as the food was, the highlight of the evening were Sasha and Marcus. Sasha has a sultry voice and her interpretation of a number of jazz classics including "Fly me to the Moon" and "Summertime" was stunning, and Marcus's guitar work was excellent. We were very impressed and can see a bright future for the 23 year old singer.

The evening ended with thanks all round to everyone who contributed to the success of the evening. A special thanks, in the form of flowers, was given to Sue who almost single handedly made the Treorchy Choir events in both 2018 and 2015 a success. And of course our immense thanks to Sandie who uncomplainingly has opened her house and her kitchen for a great number of events in the past two years. Cathy presented her with some flowers - just a small token for our great appreciation for everything she has done. Thanks again to Bruce and Sandie for an excellent evening....
