On Wednesday Feb 20th we joined forces with Ambleside Club to host a “World’s Greatest Meal” at Ambleside Parish Centre as part of Rotary International’s “End Polio Now” campaign.
Members volunteered their time and cooking skills to provide a lunch of home baked Meat & Potato Pie, or Veggie Pie, Peas and Beetroot followed by a selection of homemade puddings, including Fruit Crumbles, Bread & Butter Pudding and Fresh Fruit Salad. Finishing with tea/coffee over 65 local people enjoyed a community lunch and helped us to raise the profile of both Polio Plus and our Rotary Clubs.
The lunch and raffle raised over £820 which will be doubled by the Bill and Miranda Gates Foundation resulting in a magnificent total of £2460.
Many thanks one and all!
