One of the charitable groups that the Club supports is North Edinburgh Arts, a community centre in the very deprived area of Muirhouse. At the suggestion of its Director, it was decided to assist in setting up a musical instrument library at the Centre. Members, together with Rotarians in other City Area Clubs, successfully sourced donations of a number of musical instruments for use by the community. More recently club members’ surplus tools have been donated for NEA’s ‘Shed’.
In the autumn of 2018 the Club planted 1000 crocus corms as part of the NEA Garden Project. These have now flowered and, as they naturalise in the coming years, we expect a much denser display of purple.
We have just run a second Know Your Blood Pressure event at NEA. Over a 2-hour lunchtime period, 20 people were screened, 15 showed normal blood pressure while 5 were referred to their GP with MILD BP elevation.
