Youth Speaks

Youth Speaks is one of many competitions held by Rotary aimed at developing young people.

The competitors for Youth Speaks have to prepare well in advance, deciding what subject to speak on.  Each group of three has a chairperson, a speaker and a voter of thanks, each of whom contributes equally to the proceedings.

One of our club members volunteers to be the questioner and the competition is judged by professionals.  The presentaion by the teams are invariably of a high standard, making it a challenging competion to judge.

All contestants receive a certificate and the judges declare a winner from each role; chairperson, speaker and voter, as well as an overall winning team, who go on to compete in the Rotary District semi-finals being held later in the year.  For more information about Rotary and should you wish to help please contact A short video can be viewed below, which gives a good feel for this annual event.
