Primary School Quiz 2019

At our 6th annual school quiz, 11 teams of 4 pupils from Cheltenham Primary Schools competed at Swindon Village School on 3 April. The winners were Warden Hill School.

Our 6th  annual School quiz was hosted by last year's winning school, Swindon Village, at 4.00pm. on April 3rd. Everyone was made most welcome with drinks and biscuits in the fortunately large school hall, as all 11 teams of 4 and their teachers and supporters, turned up on the afternoon.

10 questions were asked in each of  8 topics such as history, science, sport and popular culture. After each round score sheets were collected, marked and the results projected on a large screen to  an expectant excited  group of young competitors. Whilst this was going on the answers were read out to a chorus of oohs, aahs and Yes!(complete with fist pumps!)

The lead changed numerous times as each round passed by but the eventual winners with 63.5 points out of 80, were the Warden Hill team . Second  came Christchurch with 61 points and third with 59 points were first time entrants, St. Johns. President Simon presented the silver cup ( to be held for a year until the 2020 Quiz) to the Warden Hill Team, along with an Easter Egg to each for the  4 winners.

We were impressed with all the children who competed and hope that they have gained something from the experience to give them more confidence when they change to their secondary schools. The quiz seemed to be enjoyed by everyone and the creme egg  for all the participants went down well! We presented each  of the 7 schools competing, with an Usborne illustrated dictionary for their school library which hopefully will be useful.
