Rotary in the Community/ The Annual Rivington Pike Race, Horwich Saturday 20th April 2019.

​Horwich Rotary Club were delighted to sponsor the event again this year, donating £600 towards the prizes and supplying several Stewards on the day, which was a great success.

Vice President Gary Parker started the race. With a near record entry of 409 runners and a big supporting crowd the race was held in beautiful warm and sunny weather conditions.

Winner this year was Michael Clayton from the Ribble Valley Harriers in a fantastic time of 17 mins 20 secs. Best placed Horwich Harrier was Danny Hope recording a time of 20.16 mins.

The Harriers also won the men’s team prize as did their Vets team for the third year running. The winning lady was Sarah McCormack from the Ambleside Ac in 20.11 mins. In the over 70’s race Tony Hesketh of Horwich RMI finished second in a very creditable 26.47.

The prizes were presented by Community Committee Chairman Pat Byrne in the Crown Hotel which was buzzing all day.

It is hoped that we can support the event again in 2020.
