Last week's meeting of Hawick Rotarians was full of variety. First up was Round 3 of the District Quiz with Hawick meeting Rotary Club of Jedburgh. The local team ran out winners at the end of an exciting contest in which Jed had held the lead throughout until the Hawick team resoundingly won the final round which was on the buzzer! The result: Hawick 27 Jedburgh 24.
Then after our meal, we welcomed Amanda Baitup, Community Banker for the Royal Bank of Scotland in the Borders. Her talk covered fraud and scams and she enlightened the members on a number of topics. These included internet -, telephone- , doorstep- , email-, bogus website- , postal- and even romance-scams! Targeting anyone, regardless of age, gender or level of apparent vulnerability. The bottom line: if it seems too good to be true, it probably is a scam!
A great and very informative evening! You could tell how much the night was enjoyed by the many questions that were asked by the members.
