Wednesday 8th May 2019 was the prize giving night for our annual Primary School Art Competition.
This was the third year of the competition which is open to Primary 7 pupils in Cambuslang Primary Schools. A total of nine schools took part (the most yet) and there was a record number of entries. The pupils were asked to design a poster for the Cambuslang Summerfest, which will be held in June. The judges commented on the high standard of all the artwork and the variety of ideas and themes explored by the pupils.
After long deliberation a winner was selected from each school and all the winners along with parents and teachers were invited along to the prize-giving night at the Kings Park Hotel. The evening began with an air of mystery as the cover was removed to reveal which poster had been selected as the overall winner. A very happy Corinne Dyer from West Coats Primary was invited up to receive her prize from Club President Robert Dickie. President Robert then presented prizes to all the other winners and congratulated them on their success. After the presentation there was time to admire the posters on display, chat and enjoy the buffet supper provided by the hotel.
The club would like to thank all the schools who participated, all our young artists and special thanks to club member Tony Neeson who organised the event. All the winning posters will be on display at the Rotary Clubs stall at Summerfest (on Cambuslang Main Street) on Saturday 15th June.
