Dalmeny Kirk Hall was the venue for the Rotary Club of South Queensferry's Burns Supper on Friday 24th January. Members and guests enjoyed a splendid evening of music, verse and song with catering provided by Linda of the Ferry Tap. Kenzie Young piped in the haggis which was addressed by Matt Purdie. Archie Meikle provided the Immortal Memory and also performed a spirited rendering of Tam O'Shanter complete with hobby horse for Maggie and taped neighing noises. Rev. David Cameron continued the Tam O'Shanter theme in his Toast to the Lassies, surprising the audience with by appearing in a bonnet and plaid. Merrill Whalen took the role of Tam's wife Kate in her reply to the toast, causing great amusement.  Robbie Brechin gave a typically rumbustious rendering of Burns's poem Address to the Toothache and Norman and Sheena Watson sang a selection of Burns songs and led the company in singing The Star o' Rabbie Burns. In drawing the evening to a close, President Jim McCulloch thanked the performers, caterers and the organising committee - Matt Purdie, Colin Riddell and Kate Gibb.
