Keith Bancroft Rotary Walk & Tea

Sun, Jun 8th 2008 at 12:00 am - 2:00 am

Rotarians were invited to bring family and friends for a walk in Wensleydale, including an exclusive opportunity to view Bolton Hall Gardens, followed by tea.

The walk went very well and we had much praise from all the participants.
We were well supported by Settle (14), Northallerton Mowbray(15) and Stockton (18) as well as 8 from Bradford Blaize who were a club who always came to Wensleydale for the weekend of our Scenic Walks in the past. They enjoyed the day so much that they intend to revive the tradition next year. Other participants were from Leeds, Wetherby,Richmond, Thirsk, Ripon Rowels and Ripon. Additionally Ann Bancroft came along with her daughter(I think) son in law and granchildren. There were other children and the weather conspired to mke the day truly memorable. We served tea in the Wensley Village hall which was a superb facility and after tea participants were able to sit and talk on the seats members of Wensleydale had brought on the grassed area outside the hall. The Walks were nominally 2, 3.5 and 6 miles plus the walk in the garden which I believe most people took. Lord Bolton came out and talked to various groups as they toured the garden and gave them the benefit of his extensive knowledge of the hall and gardens.

There will, hopefully, be a repeat of this successful event next year

We were pleased with the increased entry for our second Saunter, particularly how much people enjoyed the route. So the 2024 Saunter will be over the same route.
