President Anne Sampson passing over the chain of office to Ewen Macdonald

On Thursday 4th July 2019 President Anne Sampson officiated at her last meeting as President as she welcomed 19 Cub Rotarians, and Lesley Macdonald guest of incoming President Ewen to this lunch time meeting held in the Gilvenbank Hotel, Glenrothes.

On reception was Peter May and Geoff Sampson, with Jim Boyd saying grace.

President Anne Sampson mentioned that after next week the club would be going into a 3-week casual break with a BBQ at Walter Fletchers house commencing at 1pm on 18th July. The following week on the 25th July at 1pm Brian Johnson had arranged for a visit to the Honey Pot at South Queensferry and on 1st August Tracy Thomson is in the process of arranging a visit to the Barn at the Loch Kinghorn.

Lindsay Roy advised that the local Ross Fisher Taekwondo Team. Team Scotland whom we had sponsored to go forward to the British Championships were Absolutely Amazing and have come back home with lots of Gold Medals across all the different Teams and won the overall International British Championships Trophy by winning the most points throughout the day.

Wilna Roger advised that she had attended the local High School awards evenings where Rotary was prominent in the school’s praise for us. She had also attended the Heritage Centre where she had given a talk on Rotary in the town and was surprised to find that many at the meeting new nothing about Rotary despite our involvement in the schools and the Town.

After lunch it was with much reluctance she said that outgoing President Anne Sampson gave up her chain of office which she said had been an honour to wear over the past year as she handed this over to her Senior Vice President Ewen Macdonald wishing him well in his new position, he in turn handing the SVP chain over to incoming SVP and PP Geoff Sampson. Bill Wooton gave a lovely rendition as he spoke fondly of Anne’s year.

This coming week Thursday 11th July 2019 is a lunch time meeting to be held at the Gilvenbank Hotel Glenrothes meeting at 12.45pm for starting at 12.55pm.

This week is a fellowship meeting with President Ewen MacDonald presiding over his first meeting.
