Presentation to Andy Stevens of Trent First Responders
Andy Stevens from Trent First Responders visited us on 21st October. Andy told us about the work of his group, which covers the area westward from Bingham towards, and including, Nottingham. The Trent group has been in existence for 4 years now. Currently, they have 12 members and they have two cars: one based at Bingham fire station and the other at West Bridgford fire station. In their four years they have given more than 18,000 hours of service and responded to over 6,000 emergency calls.
Andy told us that they work closely with Vale First Responders, the other group that serves our area, and East Midlands Ambulance Service. They also have a lot of community involvement, including Restart a Heart in conjunction with EMAS, which delivers CPR training to secondary school children.
We were delighted to be able to present Andy with a cheque for £462. Of this, £412 was generated from the Art & Craft Exhibition at Blue Diamond Garden Centre in July, which we ran jointly with our fellow Rotarians at Vale of Belvoir Rotary. The remaining £50 was a generous donation from our friend Marion Smith, who had received it for giving a talk at a local organisation.
