The first meeting of the new Rotary year took place on Zoom and we saw Maureen Stockwood installed as President.  Last year, Maureen was Joint President with Pat Bosworth.  Maureen thanked Pat for her efforts during the preceding 12 months.

Once the fomalities were over, Maureen welcomed Rotary District Governor Jill Bethell.  Normally, the District Governor will visit each of the 80+ clubs in the district - and Jill still hopes to do that.  For now, we had to be satisfied with a visit from Jill via Zoom but we hope to see her in person in a few months time.

DG Jill brought greetings from the President of Rotary International, Holger Knaack. RI President Holger's theme for this year is:  Rotary Opens Opportunities.

RI is an organisation that includes more than 1.2 million Rotarians in more than 35,000 clubs worldwide.  As Rotarians, our task is to turn the challenges we face at present into opportunities to serve our communities, both locally and internationally.
