SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING

 

The proposed Board for 2020/21 was circulated with the notice of the Special General Meeting and as no further nominations were received subsequently it was proposed by Andrew B. and seconded by Nick that the Board for 2020/21 be accepted and this was agreed.   The Board and other positions for 2020/21 will thus be as follows:

It was stressed that nominations are needed for a President and President Elect for 2020/21.

 

BUSINESS MEETING

The minutes of the Board Meeting of Thursday, November 14th have been circulated and any additions and amendments are noted below in the minutes of the meeting.

Mercy Ships:

             Andrew B. proposed to the meeting that £500.00 be pledged to the Rotary GB&I       Global Grant to fund 35 sets of surgical instruments for the new Mercy    Ship currently under construction.     This was seconded by Paul and         agreed unanimously.      It was suggested that the donation be increased to   £1,000.00 but it was agreed to wait to see how the fund goes by the New           Year and then decide.

Notice Board on Chestfield Road:

            David M. outlined to the meeting the plan for the Club notice board on           Chestfield Road and it was agreed to spend £36.00 on a printed header.

Speakers:

            Suggestions would be welcome for speakers will to talk to the Club for 15     minutes or so at breakfast meetings.

Meal Steward:

            Lesley will be away from next week, November, 28th until after Christmas      and apologies should be sent as usual to Godfrey (Telephone:   01227      639013   Mobile: 07849 007393  Email:  avardbrown@aol.com).

Friends of Whitstable and Tankerton Hospital:

            Georgina Baker is now Chairman of the Friends of the Whitstable and            Tankerton Hospital and Marian passed on her thanks for all the Club does          to help the hospital.

Team from Queen Elizabeth School, Faversham:

            We were recently visited by a team from Queen Elizabeth School,        Faversham who were taking part in an international competition to      design and build a model car to very strict specifications.     The have    reached the world finals which       are currently taking place in Abu    Dhabi.     Congratulations to them and it     is proposed to invite them back      to tell us about their experiences.

Car Parking, Sunday, November 17th:

            The recent car parking raised £238.66.    Thanks to everyone who helped.

Saturday, November 23rd, Young Chef Competition:

            The Young Chef Competition will be held at Whitstable School on        Saturday, November 23rd.     There are eighteen contestants so there will        be two sessions, one starting at 9.00 am and the other at 12.00 noon.                Anyone who would like to go along to see what is happening will be   welcome around 11.00 am.       Congratulations to Owain for his successful          hard work.

Saturday, November 23rd ,All Saints Open Afternoon,:

            Ron and Dave C. will look after the Club stand in All Saints Church Hall           between 2.00 pm and 4.00 pm.

Sunday, November 24th, Car Parking:

            Please don’t forget car parking on November 24th between 10.00 am and      5.00 pm.    Godfrey would always welcome more help.

Saturday, December 7th, Car Parking:

            The next car parking after this Sunday will be on Saturday, December 7th.

Saturday, December 7th, Christmas Dinner:

            If you have not sent Ron your menu selection please contact him without     delay.     The payment of balances for the Christmas Dinners is also due    immediately.     Please send payments to David M. or make a bank             transfer.

Sunday, December 8th, Christmas Collection:

            The Christmas Collection will be held on Sunday, December 8th meeting at     the junction of Chestfield Road and Primrose Way at 4.00 pm.      Robert    handed out the cards for delivery by December 4th at the latest.

Tuesday, December 10th, Christmas Decorations at the Whitstable and             Tankerton Hospital:

            It was agreed to put up the decorations at the Whitstable and Tankerton       Hospital on Tuesday, December 10th, meeting there at 6.00 pm.

Thursday, March 12th, Event at Gulbenkian for Alzheimers Research:

            There will be a meeting on December 3rd to decide on this projected   event.

Thursday, January 2nd, New Year Breakfast:

Breakfast on January 2nd has been organised at The Farmer and Harper, 25 High Street, Whitstable and there is a form in the folder. Godfrey has booked for thirty but so far only thirteen have signed up.   A breakfast menu will be circulated shortly.

Wednesday, January 22nd, Rotary Radio with Visit to RC Minster:

            Hilary is checking the suggested date of January 22nd with RC Minster and     a form will be put in the folder.

Thursday, February 20th, Evening Meeting, Speaker Peter Warr:

            Peter Warr is a founder member of the Club who will be speaking at an         evening meeting on February 20th on Team Tanzania a charity which is        currently completing the construction of a school in that country.

Raffle:

            Marian won a bottle of wine which she kindly put back.    ‘Number      Cruncher’ Mann won a puzzle.

Master of Alms:

            Nick was in fine form and has agreed to continue next year with Godfrey       as his deputy.
