Happy Christmas:
Sue wished everyone a very Happy Christmas.
Board Meeting:
The minutes of the Board meeting of Thursday, December 12th have been circulated.
Christmas Collection:
Ian delivered the parcels of Christmas food to a number of families and these were very much appreciated.
Whitstable School:
Sue has spoken to Ana Gibson, Headmistress of Whitstable School with regard to hosting the Young Chef Competition and she has proposed that it be held in rotation with other local schools and Owain will talk to Herne Bay High School. Mentoring at the school will go ahead. Ana has offered the Whitstable School Theatre for the Feel Good Evening in support of Alzheimers Research and this will now go ahead on Thursday, March 12th.
Table Tennis, Bowling and Beach BBQ:
Dave proposed to the meeting organising a repeat table tennis evening, another bowling afternoon and a beach BBQ and these were all agreed. There will be forms in the folder when dates have been finalised.
Postage Stamps:
Spyros is collecting used postage stamps so please save them for him.
2020 Dates for the Diary:
Visit to Apeldoorn, weekend of June 2nd and 3rd
Whitstable Harbour Day, Saturday, August 1st
Herne and Broomfield Fun Day, Sunday, August 2nd
District Conference, Eastbourne, October 23rd to 25th
Thursday, January 2nd, New Year Breakfast:
The menu for the New Year breakfast at the Farmer and Harper in Whitstable will be a full English breakfast or vegetarian option together with tea or coffee. The cost will be £15.00 per person including gratuity.
Please pay on the day. Godfrey has to give numbers to the Farmer and Harper very shortly and will have to charge anyone who does not turn up if they have signed-up. If you want to go and have not signed up please let Godfrey know as soon as possible.
Monday, January 6th, Christmas Decorations at the Whit and Tank:
Please help to take down the Christmas Decorations at the Whit and Tank on Monday, January 6th at the hospital at 6.00 pm. It is too late to put a form in the folder so please turn up if you can help.
Tuesday, January 14th, RC Canterbury, Quiz Night:
RC Canterbury will be holding a Quiz Night in aid of their club charities on Tuesday, January 14th at 6.30 for 7.00 pm at the Cornwallis Room at the Spitfire Ground at a cost of £16.00 per person including a fish and chip supper. It is hoped that the Club can make up a table of eight or ten.
Wednesday, January 22nd Visit to Rotary Radio followed by Dinner with RC Minster:
There is a form in the folder so please sign up as we need a good turn out. Rotary Radio is in the former Criterion Theatre in Blue Town and we will meet there at 4.00 and, afterwards, will join RC Minster on Sea for dinner.
Saturday, January 25th, Car Parking:
Please sign up; there is a form in the folder. Godfrey hopes to have the car parking dates for 2020 shortly and they will be circulated.
Tuesday, February 18th, Meeting to Discuss Setting up Satellite Club:
Kevin Fielding, President, RC Whitstable and ADG, has organised a meeting at the Marine Hotel at 6.15 on Tuesday, February 18th to discuss clubs in the Canterbury area collaborating to form a committee with the objective of setting up a satellite club in the City. Kevin needs numbers who might attend shortly.
Friday, February 28th, Ten-pin Bowling and Meal:
There is a form in the folder so please sign up. Meet at the Bowling Alley, Tower Parade, Whitstable, CT5 2BJ at 6.00 pm for 6.30 pm. A meal afterwards will probably be at Mucini’s.
Thursday, March 12th, Feel Good Evening in Aid of Alzheimers Research:
This will now go ahead in the theatre at Whitstable School. Details will be circulated shortly.
Friday, March 20th, Walk for Water 2020
Seven schools have now signed up for Walk for Water 2020.
Raffle:
Spyros won a bottle of wine and Paul a jigsaw puzzle.
