Minutes of the Meeting

Held on Thursday, January 30th  2020

                                             At The Golf Club, Chestfield

Lesley Robertson:

            Best wishes to Lesley who will be going in for a replacement knee       operation on Saturday.    While Lesley will be recovering Robert will be    acting as meal steward but please continue to contact Lesley with             apologies.

Wendy Tetley:

            Wendy has had her operation which went well and she is now at home          recuperating but is not up to receiving visitors at the moment.

Criterion Theatre, Blue Town, Sheerness:

            The Criterion is the combined museum and theatre that we  visited last          week and which runs a variety of events including old time music hall,     musical evenings and cinema screenings.       A visit is proposed for later in            the year and Steve Wood of Rotary Radio is happy to help with the             organisation.

Koala Refuge

            Thanks to everyone who contributed a donation to the Koala Sanctuary        in Australia following the devastating fires,    David M. was able to transfer      £848.50 to the sanctuary on Kangaroo Island.

Car Parking:

            Godfrey now has the following dates for car parking Saturday, February       15th, Sunday March 1st, Saturday, May 23rd and Saturday, July 11th.    There        are forms in the folder so please sign up and put these dates in your   diaries.

Cluster Meeting, Thursday, January 23rd:

            A Cluster Meeting of local clubs took place on Thursday, January 23rd and     was attended by Sue.     Among other items were some membership        statistics of local clubs as follows:

Car Parking, Saturday, January 25th,:

            The car parking on Saturday, January 25th was very successful and     £410.41 was raised.    Many thanks to everyone who turned up to help.

Saturday, February 1st, Second Round of the Young Chef Competition:

            The second round of the Young Chef Competition will be held at the   London South-East College, Orpington.      Kathy and Sue will be going to        support our two contenders.

Saturday, February 1st, Fundraising for Australian Bush Fire Relief:

            The East Kent in Oxford Street Whitstable CT5 1DA is organising a      fundraising evening on Saturday, February 1st  when all proceeds will go            in support of those suffering as a result of the devastating fires.

Thursday, February 6th, Speakers from Interact:

            The speakers next week will be the three new officers from Kent         College Interact.

Tuesday, February 18th, Godfrey and Sharon’s Second Fundraising Dinner:

Tuesday, February 18th, Meeting to Discuss Satellite Club:

            It is not too late to sign up for the dinner meeting of local Clubs at the            Marine Hotel on Tuesday, February 18th at 6.15 for 6.30 pm but numbers          are needed soon.

Friday, February 28th, Ten-pin Bowling with Meal at Mucini’s:

            The next ten-pin bowling will be on Friday, February 28th followed by a         meal afterwards at Mucini’s.    A menu has been circulated and if you are    going to the meal please let Godfrey have your menu choices as soon as      possible.

Friday, March 13th, Kent College Interact Murder Mystery Evening:

            Kent College Interact are holding a Murder Mystery Evening on Friday,          March 13th at a cost of £10.00 per person.   Kathy has more information.

Saturday, March 14th, RC Herne Bay Race Night:

            Don’t forget the RC Herne Bay Race Night on March 14th at Hampton Primary School.     There is a form in the folder so please sign-up if you            can help to make up a table.

Friday, June 5th to Saturday, June 7th, Visit to  Apeldoorn:

            Andrew B. needs to give Erik in Apeldoorn possible numbers for the visit      as soon as possible.     If you are planning to take part in the visit, please sign up on form in the folder.    If you are not intending to take part in the          visit please mark your name on the form with ‘X’ so that Andrew knows.

Raffle:

            Godfrey made off with the mint chocs and left the wine for Sue.

Master of Alms:

   Nick managed to nail everyone for something.
