We celebrated the festival at Little Channels

Rotary Christmas wreath

Fifty-five members and guests descended on Little Channels for today’s Christmas Party. There were the traditional turkey and Christmas pudding options for those who wanted them, with alternatives available for those who had already got fed up with Christmas fare or simply preferred something else.

A grey-haired couple sitting at a dining tableWe were pleased to welcome back Past Presidents Angela Dickman and Alan Scott and their respective spouses. Angela has now left us to join the Rotary Club of Maldon and Alan became an Honorary Member after having a stroke a couple of years ago. (That’s Alan and his wife Anne in the photograph.)

Another couple we were pleased to see were Tony and Brenda Stubbings, Tony having been unable to attend meetings for some time for personal reasons.

After lunch we were entertained by a choir from the Cathedral School, who sang a number of Christmas songs under the guidance of their Head Teacher. Each child received a bag of chocolate as a “thank you”.

We finished with the usual notices, the presentation of a certificate to our newest Business Partner and the Rotary Toast. We have just one meeting left this year.
