Shelterbox have acknowledged the support provided by Fleet Rotary and the donations received from the Fleet community

The following letter has been received from Shelterbox acknowledging the support from Fleet Rotary and their local community supporters:

Grace and her family were rescued by boat when they were surrounded by flood waters triggered by Cyclone ldai that hit Malawi earlier this year. Having had to abandon their home, relatives hosted Grace and her family until they received a ShelterKit and other essential items from ShelterBox, enabling them to begin rebuilding their lives.

"We were very happy to now have our own place to stay" - Grace, Malawi

Dear Rotarians of The Rotary Club of Fleet

As this Rotary year comes to a close, we wanted to extend a huge thank you to your club and fellow Rotarians for ensuring families, just like Grace's, receive the vital shelter they need. This Rotary year your club has donated a total of £3255. Your support really does make a difference. Thanks to you, last year more than 210,000 people were supported with emergency shelter and essential household items after disaster.

Already, in 2019, ShelterBox have worked in 10 countries including side by side with Rotarians in the Philippines (District 3860) responding to Tropical Storm Usman and in Malawi (District 9210) where over 1 million people were displaced by Cyclone ldai.

We also appreciate your hard work in helping to raise awareness of ShelterBox and our partnership in your own community, whether that be through fundraising activities or telling others about the work we are achieving together.

As supporters of ShelterBox, we are pleased to highlight that our official Project Partnership with Rotary International has recently been renewed for another three years. The partnership was inaugurated in 2012 and the renewal means that Rotary and ShelterBox will continue to expand collaboration efforts and seek ways to increase our global impact.

Thank you for your club's continued support to ShelterBox, your help means we can strive to ensure no family is left without shelter after disaster. Thank you for sharing your passion and we wish you and your Rotary club all the very best for the Rotary year ahead.
