Rotary club of Stirling meeting of 9th August.

President Sandy Farquharson welcomed one visitor, Rotarian John Bryant from the Dunstable club. The first of our regular monthly Thursday evening meetings will be on 5th September, 6.30 for 7pm. There will of course be no Friday lunch time meeting on the 6th September. We have been invited to take part in the Walking of the Stirling Marches on
Saturday 14th September.   Our V.P. Alan Bradshaw spoke about his occupation, business psychology, which aims to help employees be more self-aware, deal better with the stresses of the modern workplace, and improve their relationships with their fellow employees. All this comes under the heading of "wellbeing", an area which most businesses now take up with their employees. At one time regarded as rather fanciful it is in fact strongly evidence based. The aim is to improve performance by helping people to connect with those around them, take notice of what is happening here and now, (mindfulness) , keep physically and mentally active, keep learning, and arising from all this be able to give more, make a difference, be more effective, and overall be more in control of their lives. Following this we had around the table discussion of how this might apply to our Rotary membership.  For more info

Next week 16th August Speaker's host Alex Galloway, Visitor's host Allan Cheetham.
