The Rotary Youth Service team led by Dale Wilkins run a series of Young Rotarian Projects with Stourbridge Primary Schools, This is the ninth year we have worked with Wollescote School in Lye, helping year 6 children to work independently, by creating a healthy attitude towards physical recreation and developing personal skills and, by understanding the community, helping to lower the incidence of bullying, discrimination and racism.
The award was completed by 30 year 6 children over the last year and included raising £750 for charities including the local foodbank.
The Award programme aims at creating a healthy attitude towards physical recreation and developing personal skills and, by understanding the community, helping to lower the incidence of bullying, discrimination and racism.
Each programme is centred on a junior school and relies on the support of that school, its teachers and governors as well as the parents and the children themselves.
Partner Junior Schools are Wollescote, Mount Pleasant and The Ridge Primaries, there are around 50 year 6 pupils every year over the last 9 years that achieve the Rotary Award. Children take part in a range of activities in four areas - Community Service, Skills, Physical Education and Social Experience.
