The Club held a very successful Race Night in the Bute Shinty Club which was enjoyed by all attending. At the end President Jim Findlay thanked everyone for their generosity in supporting the Club.

President Georgeann Martin presents a cheque for £350 to Margaret Watson from Thomson Court for the purchase of a tablet to enable residents to keep in touch with relatives and friends during the COVID 19 pandemic.

Members celebrated the Club's 68th Birthday at Kingarth in the company of George MacDonald who provided excellent musical entertainment.

President Georgeann presented a gift to Maria as a token of appreciation for the way in which she and Simon had looked after the Club in Kingarth Hotel and wished them well in the future.

The Club's Young Musician Competition was held in Rothesay Joint Campus on 22nd November 2018. The Vocal section was won by Emma Flanagan and the Instrumental section by Elizabeth Harley.

On a bright Easter Monday Club President Georgeann Martin presented a cheque for £500 to Shirley McFarlane of the Bute Dialysis Patient Support Group.

On 13th February President Georgeann Martin welcomed Maureen Neary as a new member of the Club. Maureen had been introduced to the Club by President Georgeann.

Past President Jim Findlay handed over to Georgeann Martin at the Club Assembly on 27th June 2019 wishing her a successful year in office.

There was no annual service this year but President Georgeann was joined by Billy Shields to lay a wreath in memory of the merchant seamen buried there, in particular from the SS Coronda, SS Empire Dorado, SS British Glory, Matroos KV and SS Empire Cloud.

On Thursday 18th July the Club was proud to welcome Janet Steele, a former member of Paterson Rotary Club in Australia. Janet was introduced by Andy Kelly and warmly welcomed by President Georgeann Martin, Secretary Ralph Anderson and attending members.

The Club are holding their annual Car Boot Sale on The Promenade, Rothesay, between 12.30 pm and 4.00pm. Pitch Application Forms from the Card Shop, the Bike Shed, Musiker, Ardbeg Store and the Port Post Office.

On 12th September 2019 the Club were pleased to welcome the 2018-2019 School captains Abigail Clifford and Abigail Brooks together with Head of Campus Louise Nicol. The girls talked about the highlights of their year followed by a lively discussion.

Golf enthusiasts enjoyed a "virtual" round of golf in sunny Hawaii.

On 7th February members and guests enjoyed a closely fought indoor bowling tournament. This was won by Roger Connard and Ralph Anderson pictured here being presented with their prizes by the president of the bowling club Frances Kelly.

Club Members and friends held a very enjoyable murder/mystery evening. Much effort had been put into the costumes and there was a lot of laughter as the plot unfolded to identify the maid as the guilty party.

The Club held their annual car boot sale on 2nd September 2018 on the Rothesay Promenade. The weather was kind and the event well supported by both stall holders and purchasers.

On 26th September President Georgeann Martin, on behalf of the Club, welcomed John Weir as a new member. John was introduced by Past president Jim Findlay.

Club members were joined by others from the local community for the annual service to remember the merchant seamen buried there, in particular from the ships SS Coronda, SS Empire Dorado, SS British Glory, Matroos KV and SS Empire Cloud.

A successful 'Tartan Tammie' Scottish Night was held on 28th January 2021. Over 35 members and guests joined in and to give a truly Scottish flavour several sported a Tartan Tammy and most wore something tartan.

The Club held a very successful Scottish Night at the Victoria Hotel, Rothesay. Stewart Shaw addressed the Haggis and John Weir proposed the toast to Scotland. Music was provided by Jimmy Duncan, John Morrison and Meg Young.

Members met on the evening of 30th May to contest the annual Putting Competition to win the prestigious 'Claret Mug'.

The Club celebrated their 70th Birthday on 3rd September with some bowling followed by refreshments and a piece of birthday cake. Our thanks to Craigmore Bowling Club for organising an enjoyable socially distanced evening.

The Club were pleased to welcome District Governor Jim Ross making his "formal" visit. Jim, a member of the Dunoon Club, is well known in Rothesay and members and guests enjoyed hearing about his aspirations for his year in office.

The Club were pleased to welcome Findlay Gorman, President of Clydebank Rotary Club as a guest while celebrating 69 years since the Club was founded. Charlie Soane and Jimmy Duncan provided the musical entertainment on a very enjoyable evening.

The Club held their Scottish Night combined with the presentation of a Community Service Award to Jean McMillan the volunteer Librarian/ Archivist at Bute Museum.

On Thursday 3rd September 2019 the Club were pleased to welcome Past President Deirdre Campbell-Shaw from the Rotary Club of Aschaffenburg-Schoenbusch in Bavaria together with her husband Dr Rolf Lasaar.

This small painting, inspired by the bushfires around Mallacoota in Victoria, Australia, was given to the Club in appreciation of a donation of 1,000 Australian Dollars to help with the rebuilding of the town.

On 11th July members gathered at Craigmore Bowling Club on a warm sunny evening to try their hands at bowling with expert tuition from former member Hugh Yeamans. Winners were Jim Findlay and Ronnie Falconer.

Members and friends were guests of Bute Clay Target Club for an enjoyable evening in warm sunshine. Beginners learned new skills but experience told.

Anne McLaughlin, Treasurer of BAS, presenting a cheque for £349.00 to President Jim Findlay in recognition of assistance provided by the Club at the Show. The money, which was gratefully received, will go into the Clubs Charity Fund.

Thirty members and guests enjoyed a fascinating tour of the House, lunch, and the opportunity to explore the arboretum and walled garden.

The Club held a very successful Quiz Night at Craigmore Bowling Club on 3rd November. Over £700 was raised for rotary charities. The winning team was led by Isobel Smith seen here receiving the team prize from Kim Findlay, wife of President Jim Findlay.

Members and Guests gathered at the Victoria Hotel, Rothesay, enjoying and excellent meal followed by a lighthearted and humorous address from the Rev Owain Jones.

Club Members carried out their first Beach Clean of 2019 at Stravannan on 29th March.

On 7th January 2021 Allan talked on Zoom about his hobby for many years of photographing planets, features of the moon, nebula and far off galaxies. He described the equipment he used and some secrets of his success. A lively discussion followed the talk.

Christmas was celebrated through taking part in a charity bag-pack and enjoying our annual Christmas Dinner at Kingarth Hotel.

The Club took much pleasure in presenting Dictionaries4Life to all primary seven pupils at our three primary schools, North Bute, Rothesay Primary and St. Andrews Primary marking the transition to secondary school.

Club Members were joined by partners for the annual beach clean at Stravannan which was followed by a barbecue on a glorious sunny evening.

To celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Rotary Club of Rothesay it was agreed that the Club would develop a special area at the Joint Campus to be known as the Rotary Garden.

President Georgeann Martin was pleased to welcome the District Governor to the Club Meeting. The District Governor addressed the Club in a humorous and motivational address which was enjoyed by all.

On 7th August 2018 Ronnie visited the Byron Bay Club while on holiday in Australia and was presented with one of their Pennants. Rothesay President Jim Findlay asked Ronnie to forward a Rothesay Pennant to Byron Bay President Colin Mc Jannett.

While visiting Jersey, President Georgeann visited the Rotary Club of Jersey de la Manche on 10th September and was presented with their banner by President Angela Francey BEM.

President Jim Findlay was pleased to welcome Assistant District Governor Iain White on behalf of the Club. ADG Iain gave an upbeat address to the members.
