Lunch time meeting - Our speaker this week will be Brian Johnson talking about Foundation sustaining membership.

On Thursday 17th October 2019 President Ewen Macdonald welcomed 20 Club Rotarians to this our lunch time meeting, which was held at the Gilvenbank Hotel, Glenrothes. 

On reception was Peter May and Geoff Sampson who said grace.

The Vintage afternoon tea being held at the CISWO on Sunday afternoon 27th October 2-5pm is now sold out with a waiting list in the event of call offs, with the proceeds from the event going to The Fife Breathe Easy Charity and other Rotary charities.  The tea is being provided by Kirkcaldy Rotarian Sharon Munro who owns the New York Sandwich place at the harbour Kirkcaldy, entertainment by OneHeart who are all members of GAMA, will perform songs form the musicals

Walter Fletcher budgetary controller gave an update on the club’s finances for the first quarter of this Presidential year.

This week our guest speaker was Brian Johnson our Foundation chair who gave members an InSite into sustaining membership. Who is a Sustaining Member? Anyone who donates as an individual donor US$100 or more per year to RFUK for the benefit of the Annual Fund of The Rotary Foundation is automatically recognised as a Rotary Foundation Sustaining Member. The Annual Fund Contributions to this fund provide essential funding for the Foundation’s cultural, humanitarian and educational programmes. Why become a Sustaining Member? Sustaining members are crucial to the Foundation. If every club member contributes $100 every year, we could double our efforts to help needy people worldwide and support the continued growth of programmes,

Projects generally cover six main areas of focus: • Peace and conflict prevention/resolution • Disease prevention and treatment •Water and sanitation • Maternal and child health • Basic education and literacy • Economic and community development.

The annual peace walk will take place on Thursday 7th November 2019.  

Our REYA fundraising night will take place on Monday 25th November 2019.

Our Santa Collection at ASDA will take place on Saturday 14th December 2019.

The annual Swimarathon fundraiser will take place on 1st March 2020

RYLA, mock interviews and Mentoring in the schools were all discussed.

This coming week’s meeting on Thursday 24th October 2019 will be a lunch time meeting to be held at the Gilvenbank Hotel. please meet 12.45pm for a prompt 12.55pm start. Our speaker this week will be two representatives from SAMH, Scottish Association for Mental Health. Islay Rackham and Louise Morgan.

Anne Sampson’s Past Presidents Dinner was held at the Balgeddie Hotel last Friday 18th October 2019 with 21 people attending. This year’s President Ewen Macdonald presented a bouquet of flowers to Anne as a thank you for her year commenting on her achievements and getting charity status for the club.
