Happy Memories

It was like the old days when Margaret Jones organised the September walk.  We started at The Swan at Lamppost but most of us missed the balloon landing in the Brampton Valley behind the pub.

Margaret gave the required H&S briefing and we set off with dire warnings of crossing the A508.  Then we crossed it again!  Down the hill we went and admired the red kite being hassled by two crows. Not sure who won.

Along the old railway we went and turned left back up the hill to Hanging Houghton.  Brian went ahead to visit a golfing chum recovering from a new knee and Margaret decided that the party should continue regardless on the grounds that “he would find us eventually”.  I think there is a course for leadership skills awaiting.

Back over the A508 again, and across the fields around the back of Lamport Hall, where we admired a strange mound upon which old trees were growing.  No-one could explain it so here it is for you to decide.

Back through Lamport past the hard-working Anglian Water workers who were close to finishing the two-month closure of the road.  Philip was challenged (nay bet £10) to run through the nettles but declined.  Diane was not impressed when she heard later!

Lunch in the Swan was excellent, and Margaret decided to award the trophy to Philip for maintaining the summer with his shorts. Nobody else was in agreement!
