Bread & Soup

Bread and soup was the only choice on the menu when members of Senlac Rotary met at the Cooden Beach Hotel on Wednesday, 27th November. The annual frugal supper takes place to raise funds for Rotary’s own charity, the Rotary Foundation, which provides grants internationally within six areas of focus, namely Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution, Disease Prevention and Treatment, Water and Sanitation, Maternal and Childcare, Basic Education and Literacy, and finally, Economic and Community Development.

Thanks to Mr James Kimber, the owner of the hotel, who kindly supplied the tasty leek and potato soup and bread the money normally paid by members for their meal could be added to the funds raised. Goody bags with snacks and fruit were available, at a cost, for those who needed a little bit more.

Chairman of the club’s Foundation committee, Dave Miles, organised a “guess the baby” competition (won by Roger Young) and Chris Folley ran a raffle. Thanks too all of those involved a grand sum of over £400 was raised for Foundation.
