Fleet Rotary supports the local community in more ways than just parading their Father Christmas float around the town as a fundraising event at Christmas. Events are organised regularly during the year as fundraising initiatives.
For example the Fleet Fun Walk organised by Fleet Rotary and held in May this year, raised £12,563,through the 191 individuals or team walkers seeking sponsorship from friends and family in order to support particular projects, such as a new annex to the restored All Saints Church, which was badly damaged by fire in June 2015.
The photograph shows Rotarian Chris Johnson handing over a cheque for £3990 to the Vicar of Fleet, Mark Hayton, together with some of the All Saints 18 strong walking team plus the organisers of the event.
Rotarian John Forsyth said, ‘Thanks to continuing support from the local community, in the last year ending in June 2019, Fleet Rotary was able to donate over £ 28,000 primarily to good causes in the local area but with a small element going overseas to help those in need, such as those whose lives have been devastated by natural disasters. Club members would like to thank everyone for this wonderful support’
