Topic:- The Atlantic Salmon by Philip Allison and
Cheque presentation to Riverside Primary School
Friday 28th February 2020
At the Friday meeting President Sandy Farquharson chaired the lunch time meeting and introduced the speaker, our own Philip Allison. Over the years we have been treated by Philip to many amusing stories and anecdotes. His most memorable one was probably his Father of the Bride speech given to us at very short notice owing to the inability of a speaker to attend. Today’s talk was by contrast a much more serious subject that of The Atlantic Salmon. Although a keen fly fisherman, Philip’s normal catch are brown or rainbow trout rather than the more elusive salmon. It was clear that much research and preparation had gone into his interesting and thought-provoking talk by the number of questions asked afterwards by members.
The vote of thanks was given by Crawford Gordon and the club’s appreciation shown in the normal manner.
After the meeting President Sandy Farquharson presented a cheque of £500 to Claire Gillespie of the Riverside Active Parent Partnership from Riverside Primary School.
The money will go towards the much-needed refurbishment of the sensory room at the school where 26 children all of whom have diagnosis of autism receive varying degrees of support so they can access learning.
