A Taste of Burns
The Bentley Hotel

18.30 for 19.00
Ticket - £30.00
Tonight, the Rotarians of the Motherwell and Wishaw Club welcomed family and friends to the Bentley Hotel for “A Taste of Burns”, our annual celebration of the works of the Bard.
President Andrew Murray opened the proceedings and, after Craig Herbert had “piped in” the haggis, P.P. Des Donnelly, once again, gave the Address to the Haggis with his usual flair.
Club Secretary, John McGeary said the Selkirk Grace and we enjoyed the meal, efficiently served by the hotel staff. After a short break Craig, the Pipe Major of East Kilbride Pipe Band, brought the company back to order by playing his selection of pipe tunes.
The evening’s entertainment continued with a musical interlude from Cameron Hill who sang and played his keyboard beautifully.
The Immortal Memory was given by Gerry Dunn who used his talk to express his love of some of Burns songs and poems.
The multi-talented, Cameron Hill, a passionate Burns enthusiast, returned to give a superb, and a wonderfully entertaining, rendition of Tam o’ Shanter.
The “Toast to Love” was proposed by Claire Herbert, chaplain to the Lodging House Mission in Glasgow and a deacon with the Church of Scotland lives in East Kilbride.
After President Andrew Murray gave the toast to “Our Guests”, Senior Vice President Katrina Gibbons proposed a comprehensive vote of thanks.
Our raffle raised a, magnificent, £1,000 for work of The Lodging House Mission, in Glasgow.
