ORBIS is a major international charity devoted to saving the sight of people in countries where there is a severe risk of eye infections which often result in blindness. Each country taking part is given one particular area to focus on and for ORBIS Ireland it is Ethiopia.
The annual quiz was a very enjoyable evening with 10 rounds of questions set and compered by Ronnie McClements. The quiz was organised by the Club's International Committee under the Chairmanship of Steve Blayney and the supper was kindly donated by a generous donor. The total collected was just over £1000.
more The Club held a Fundraising Quiz in November in Helen's Bay Golf Club.
more The Club has now been working with the charity Lend With Care to provide small loans for businesses in developing countries for over a year. As the loans are repaid the money is "recycled" out to other small businesses to provide some further capital.
