.

Our speaker, Ian  Smith was introduced as a past president of Cupar Round Table, honorary president of Livingston Round Table and current president of Livingston 41 Club. He had also organised the first Livingston Charities Soap Box Race.

Ian described his passion for cars and racing. His interest started with Go Karts and a family visit to Knockhill Racing Circuit. He takes a “normal” car, works on it or changes the engine and races it round the track. Over the years he has raced various cars including a Honda Legend, a Mitsubishi EVO, an Audi A8, a BMW, a Mazda RX8 and two Vauxhall Novas, one of which he is still working on. He recommended the pastime to members. His enthusiasm for his hobby was evident in his very entertaining talk and he finished by showing a photo of all the cars he has ever owned. The VOT was given by Ron Maclachlan.
