On Northampton Racecourse raising money for Cynthia Spencer Hospice, Alzheimers Society, the Lowdown and Hope Centre

Supported Charities

We are delighted that our primary charity beneficiary and partner is Cynthia Spencer Hospice.

If everyone raised £50 it would make a fantastic Christmas present to our charities.

Please raise as much sponsorship money as you can. When your sponsorship money is received half will be allocated to Cynthia Spencer. The remaining half will be split evenly between Alzheimer's Society, The Hope Centre and The Lowdown.

If you wish to donate click here to proceed to our Wonderful.Org Giving/ Donation website.

If you require a Sponsorship Form please click on one of the links above.

Cynthia Spencer Hospice provides specialist palliative care services for South Northamptonshire, our sister hospice, Cransley Hospice provides similar services for the North of the county.

At Cynthia Spencer Hospice we provide inpatient care, outpatient services, Hospice@Home, lymphoedema service and palliative care clinical nurse specialist service. We have two specialist Consultants in palliative medicine, a team of doctors and specialist nurses working within the Hospice and the community as well as in Northampton General Hospital and Danetre Hospital in Daventry.

Referrals for our Hospice services are usually made via a patient’s GP, district nurse or hospital Consultant and nurses.

Alzheimer’s Society is the only UK charity that campaigns for change, funds research to find a cure and supports people living with dementia today.

Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer. Someone develops it every three minutes and there’s currently no cure.

We know it is scary facing up to it, but we must confront the biggest health and social care challenge of our time.

Thanks to your support, Alzheimer’s Society is facing dementia head on. Whether you’re a fundraiser, donor, partner, or affected by dementia in any way, we’re working with you to build a movement. Inspired by your voices, we’re leading the way in support, society and research.

As the largest and most influential dementia charity in the UK, we are calling on everyone to unite. Working together we know we will achieve our vision – a world without dementia.

Hope is a progressive anti-poverty charity that works to improve the lives of anyone affected by poverty, especially homelessness; through services, training, campaigning and advocacy.

Hope is a community charity owned by local people, doing good things in Northampton for local people:

  • We provide practical services that help people survive poverty and homelessness
  • We help people to leave poverty and homelessness through giving training and skills to improve employability
  • We campaign against poverty and negative attitudes and poor treatment towards our client group

We were founded in 1974 by Michael Mulligan and since that time have worked with tens of thousands of people in our town.   We have provided services on an unbroken basis to people since that date, originally through the Catholic Church, although we have no specific religious focus today. We welcome and support people from all faiths and none amongst our supporters, staff and volunteers.

We strive to work towards the highest standards of quality governance in charities, complying fully with all legal requirements and working in an ethical way and actively pursuing equality of opportunity and fair treatment to everyone we work with, our staff and volunteers and suppliers. To this end we are accredited for our work with volunteers under Investing In Volunteers, for our social enterprise by the Social Enterprise Quality Mark, and we are working towards to PQASSO (now ‘Trusted Charity Mark’ ) standards of charity governance. We are members of NCVO.

The lowdown is a counselling, sexual health and LGBTQ support service in Northamptonshire offering a free and confidential service six days a week to children and young adults in distress or experiencing crisis.

The issues we deal with are broad. We provide information, advice and counselling which we tailor to your individual needs. We always respect your privacy, and understand it can be very difficult to ask for help and talk about the things that are troubling you.

the lowdown provides five core services focused on the different needs of the children and young adults we work with:

Counselling
Information and Advice
LGBTQ support
Outreach services
Sexual Health

Each Rotary Club has two very distinct accounts:

The Club Account, into which we pay our subscriptions and pay for  all the expenses of running the club.

The Trust Fund Account, into which monies are received from donations and fundraising activities. From this account only expenses directly realted to the running of  fundraising events and donations and grants to charities are made.

Rotarians  volunteer their time and effort freely and make no charge for their time and effort. Their service and support of their community or to an international community  is reward  enough.
